Who we are.
Why we formed.
Tam Union Governance Alliance is an independent, nonpartisan community organization committed to trustworthy governance, student success, and genuine community partnership in the Tamalpais Union High School District.
We formed because community concern about how decisions get made at TUHSD has grown steadily over the past several years. Our goal is to uphold a standard the community deserves: decisions weighed in public, evidence shared honestly, and public input treated as more than a formality.

A short list of what the public record shows. The dates, votes, quotations and figures below come from board meeting recordings, produced public records, and independently sourced data, and we cite them so you can check them. The conclusions we draw from them are ours.
Bloc voting unity
Trustees Roenisch, Saavedra, and Holden voted unanimously with each other on 207 of 208 votes where all three were present, December 2024 through March 2026 — 32 meetings, one dissent between them.

TUHSD's statewide district ranking has dropped 84 spots — from approximately #251 to approximately #335 out of roughly 1,540 California school districts — since the 2018–19 baseline, while district spending has continued to rise.

TUHSD spends $27,690 per student per year — 34% above the California high-school-district average of $20,693. Per-student spending has risen 41% since the 2018–19 baseline, even as academic outcomes across multiple measures have declined.

Trustworthy decision making
Trust in the board is earned in public. Complete agendas, accurate data, reasoning shared before votes rather than after, and honest answers when families ask hard questions.
Successful school programs
Programs that produce measurable student outcomes deserve support, and changes to them deserve a deliberate public process. We support teachers, evaluate changes on evidence, and expect the district to do the same.
Community input and representation
Families, educators, and neighbors are partners in the district's future, not audiences. Public comment is input, often including alternative ideas and proposed solutions, and deserves the time to be heard and genuinely considered.
We hold no party affiliation. We work from the public record, invite verification, and correct errors promptly. We do not knowingly accept contributions from district vendors, and we will refund any we identify.
