1. Who publishes this site

tamgovernance.org is published by Tam Union Governance Alliance (“TUGA,” “we,” “us”), a California recipient committee registered with the Fair Political Practices Commission, FPPC ID # 1493524. The committee can be reached at info@tamgovernance.org.

This is political speech. The committee supports some candidates for the TUHSD Board of Trustees and opposes others, and it says so plainly on the home page. The disclosures required by California law appear in the footer of every page of this site.

We are not the school district. TUGA is an independent community committee. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or authorized by the Tamalpais Union High School District, its Board of Trustees, or any district school, employee, or official. References to the district and to individual trustees are for identification and commentary only. The district’s official website is tamdistrict.org.

2. Reporting, commentary, and opinion

This site contains two different kinds of material, and we try to keep the line between them visible.

• The record. Quotations, votes, dates, dollar figures, and descriptions of what happened at public meetings or in produced public records. These are drawn from the district’s own recordings, minutes, and documents, and are cited so that any reader can go check them.
• Our conclusions. Our characterizations, arguments, judgments about governance, and our endorsements and oppositions. These are TUGA’s opinions. Where we draw a conclusion, we disclose the underlying facts it rests on so you can weigh them yourself and reach a different conclusion if you read them differently.

Nothing on this site is a legal accusation, a finding by any court or agency, or a charge that any person has committed a crime or violated any law, unless we expressly cite a court record, agency decision, or other official document and link to it.

3. Accuracy, corrections, and right of reply

We work from primary sources. Quoted words appear as spoken, and we cite each quotation to the district’s own recording so you can hear it in context. We check quotations against the recording before we publish them. Machine transcripts mishear words and do not identify speakers. Where we could not confirm who was speaking, the name appears in brackets or the speaker is described as unidentified. We are working through the archive and will bracket any attribution we cannot verify. Our principal statistics are documented on our Methodology page with their sources and calculations.

Sources can be incomplete, recordings can be unclear, and data published by other organizations can change after we cite it.

If you find an error, tell us and we will fix it. Email info@tamgovernance.org with the specific claim and what you believe the correct information is. We review every such message, we correct what we get wrong promptly, and we note material corrections on the page where they occurred.

Right of reply. If you are named on this site and believe we have described your words, votes, or conduct inaccurately, we will publish your response alongside the material at issue, or correct the material, or both. Write to info@tamgovernance.org. That invitation is open to every trustee, district employee, and opposed candidate named on this site. Candidates this committee has endorsed should direct any correction request in writing to the committee treasurer, who will route it. This committee does not discuss its communications, strategy, or spending with any candidate it supports.

We will publish a reply that addresses the material at issue. We will not publish material about people who are not part of the matter, and we may excerpt or summarize where necessary, noting where we have done so.

4. Other websites we link to

This site links to material published by the district, by news organizations, by state agencies, and by other third parties, including video hosted on platforms we do not control. We do not control that material, we are not responsible for its accuracy or availability, and a link is not an endorsement of everything else on the site it points to. Third-party sites have their own terms and privacy practices, which govern once you leave this site.

5. No warranties, and limits on our liability

This site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by California law, and except where a warranty cannot lawfully be disclaimed, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the site, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, or freedom from error.

To the fullest extent permitted by California law, neither TUGA nor its officers, volunteers, contractors, or vendors is liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from any interruption or unavailability of this site, or from your use of any third-party website or platform linked from here.

Nothing on this site is legal, financial, tax, employment, educational, or other professional advice, and nothing on it creates any professional relationship between you and TUGA or anyone acting for it.

This section does not apply to, and does not limit, any claim arising from the content TUGA publishes, including any claim in defamation, false light, or invasion of privacy. Nothing in this section waives or limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived or limited, and nothing in it is intended to limit any obligation TUGA owes, or any remedy available against TUGA, under the California Political Reform Act or any other law governing political committees.

6. Copyright, and how you may use this material

Original text, graphics, and layout on this site are © Tam Union Governance Alliance. You are welcome to quote, screenshot, excerpt, and share it for news reporting, commentary, education, and civic discussion, with attribution to Tam Union Governance Alliance. You may not present it as the work of someone else, or edit a quotation of ours in a way that changes its meaning.

Public records reproduced or excerpted here, including board meeting recordings, minutes, and documents produced under the California Public Records Act, are public records of the district and are used for news reporting and commentary on the conduct of a public agency. Copyright in third-party material remains with its owner.

If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, write to info@tamgovernance.org identifying the material, the work you say it infringes, and your contact information, and we will review it.

7. Privacy

tamgovernance.org runs no analytics package, no advertising pixel, and no session-recording tool. If that changes, we will update this page. We do not sell or rent anyone’s personal information.

• Email list. If you sign up, the email address and any name you give us are submitted to Mailchimp, which hosts our list and sends our updates. We use it to send you news about this effort. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you. Ask us at info@tamgovernance.org and we will delete your record.
• Email you send us. Messages to our inboxes reach the committee’s principal officer. We do not publish the name of someone who writes to us without their permission. Committees are also required by law to keep certain records, so we may retain correspondence where the law requires it.
• Contributions. Online contributions are processed by Anedot, not by this website. Anedot collects the information California law requires, and its own privacy policy governs that transaction. See section 8.
• Fonts and hosting. Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts and are served by our hosting provider, so those providers necessarily receive the ordinary technical request information any web server receives, including your IP address. We do not use that information to build a profile of you, and we do not combine it with anything else.

8. Contribution notices

• Contributions to Tam Union Governance Alliance are not tax deductible as charitable contributions.
• California law requires political committees to report the name, street address, occupation, and employer of anyone who contributes $100 or more, or the name of the business if that person is self-employed. That information becomes part of a public filing.
• California law prohibits a cash contribution of $100 or more, and prohibits an anonymous contribution of $100 or more.
• Contributions may only be made by United States citizens, lawfully admitted permanent residents, and individuals with unexpired deferred action under the federal DACA program. Contributions from foreign nationals are prohibited, and we will not knowingly accept one.
• Contributions must be from your own funds, made on your own behalf, and not reimbursed by anyone else.
• If you contributed in error or want to request a refund, write to info@tamgovernance.org and we will address it.

Our FPPC filings are public. They can be searched by committee ID 1493524 at cal-access.sos.ca.gov and are also available through the Marin County Elections Department.

9. Changes, governing law, and contact

We may update this page. The version in force is the one posted here.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
